Teachers Day celebrated
APPSC to recruit school teachers: CM
ITANAGAR, Sep 5: Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that recruitment of teachers will be conducted by Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) so that well qualified and competent candidates are appointed as teachers. The Chief Minister said this during the State Award function of teachers organized by the Department of Education on the occasion of Teachers' Day at Banquet Hall here on Monday.
Pema called for improvement in the education scenario and mooted for modification in the present Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) System for better and quality education in the state. He instructed the Education Department to come up with a modified policy for submission before the Cabinet.
Taking cognizance of shortage of subject teachers, especially for Mathematics and Science, the chief minister proposed recruitment ratio of 50:50 to be implemented for APST and non-APST in teacher employment for the said two subjects.
In order to encourage teachers, he also instructed the Education Department to double the number of state awards from the existing 30 to 60 teachers from the coming year. He further mooted a plan to give gazetted status to Senior Teachers of the state.
Citing that surplus numbers of teachers are concentrated in cities and towns, while there is shortage of teachers in remote areas, Pema asked the department to rationalize posting of teachers.
He also appealed teachers to cooperate with the government and give their service to the people in remote areas of the state, where their service is equally important. He said that state government will also look into the issue of basic facilities in remote areas.
The Chief Minister acknowledged and lauded the selfless works of teachers in the state in imparting quality education and their contribution in the human resource development of the state. He urged them to rededicate themselves on this day with a sense of responsibility towards students.
Education Minister Honchun Ngandam said that due to hard work and dedication of teachers, the state has achieved 77% literacy rate. He expressed his solidarity and support to the teachers, who are serving in remote areas and committed to dedicate their life in teaching and imparting education and knowledge to the children.
He further said that the government is aware of the issues and shortcomings faced by the department in terms of shortage of classrooms, subject teachers, inadequate water and power supply, poor infrastructures and CBSE results but said efforts are on to improve these sectors. He said government is looking forward to provide better infrastructures and facilities to the teachers to make teaching a white collar job.
Ngandam also asserted that while govt appreciates and reward sincere and dedicated teachers, at the same time it will also act tough on those who draw salary without attending duties.
Altogether 30 government teachers were given the state award in recognition of their sincerity and dedication in discharging duties. The award includes cash award, shawl and a citation, that were given away by the chief guest and guest of honour.
Besides Secretary Education Bidol Tayeng and Director School Education Tapi Gao representatives of award winning teachers also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Pema and Ngandam paid homage to the portrait of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India on whose birthday, Teachers Day is being observed.
The students of NERIST celebrated the day by organizing aforestation programme in collaboration with Horticulture Section, and NSS Cell of NERIST.
Around 200 seedlings of aromatic (Dhuna), fruit bearing (Jackfruit), Purple Orchid were planted along both sides of road inside the campus during the programme, followed by cleaning drive at hostels and surrounding areas.
Celebrating Teacher's Day with an aim to protect and preserve ecosystem is the need of the hour, stated Prof. HS Yadav, Director NERIST while addressing the student volunteers.
Prof. Binay Singh, Dean Student Affairs, NERIST stated that cleanliness should start from oneself which has to be replicated to others. All the participants of the program took an oath to preserve the environment and maintain cleanliness of their surroundings.
Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Ravi Dahwan while attending the Teachers' Day celebration at Govt. Middle School Kangkong, briefed about the role played by teachers in nation building. He requested teachers to re-dedicate themselves to their noble profession.
He said that a good teacher can inspire, ignite the imagination of student and mould the future of students. He also appealed to the parents and community leaders to guide their children towards the right path.
Touching on developmental activities of the village, he urged upon the PRI leaders to take up community-based plan so that fruits of development reach to every village.
DPO M.Dirchi urged the student to inculcate discipline, sincerity, moral values and show respect to their teachers and parents.
ZPM Starson Saring also highlighted on the role of teachers in shaping the future of the students. He informed that there are 52 teachers (both Government and Private) for 1100 students in Bukong area.
SP Sanjay Kr. Sain and retired teachers from various schools also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, the DC inaugurated the Mini Badminton Court along with DPO Marto Dirchi in presence of ZPM Starson Saring, ADC Ruchika Katyal, SP Sanjay Kr. Sain and general public of Kangkong Village.
The programme was attended by students and teachers of both government and private teachers of Bukong area.
Teachers' Day was also celebrated in Government Sec. School, P-Sector, Itanagar, Higher Secondary School, Kankar Nallah, GSS, Pachin, Lekhi Middle School, Green Mount School paying respect to Dr. Radhakrishnan.
Teachers' Day speech competition and cultural programmes were some of the main highlights of the event at GSS, P Sector.
At Govt. Higher Sec School, Kankar Nallah, Everester Ansu Jansenpa, former MLA Kipa Babu, Councillor Lishi Yapu attended the programme, among others. More than 10 self-made dustbins were installed in the school campus on the day.
At Green Mount School, Itanagar, former Chief Councilor Higio Aruni attended programme. Songs and dance competitions, mimicry etc were organized among the students as part of the celebration.
The day was celebrated at GSS, Pachin, Naharlagun with various programmes.
Presentation of gift to the teachers, speech by the teachers and students on the importance of the day were the main highlights of the celebration.
At Jairampur, a total of 200 teachers of Nampong Assembly Constituency were felicitated by MLA Laisam Simai at Ongle-Sapolo hall, Jairampur marking the Teachers Day.
Lauding the teacher fraternity for sincerely educating in the far flung areas of the constituency, Simai said, it is because of the hard work you have put in, we are able to see the rise of local people serving in various capacities in both government and private sector.
Without an educated society it is difficult to dream of a better future, he said, and appealed the parents to educate their children at any cost.
Spaeking on the occasion, Highway EE, Kago Salu read out the contributions of Dr. Radhakrishnan as an educationist.
Earlier, teachers also expressed their experiences and hardship as well as pledged to work harder for greater good, report a correspondent.
Orgs urge Speaker to call special session
ITANAGAR, Sep 5: A delegates comprising members of all community based organizations (CBOs), including Galo Welfare Society, Nyishi Elite Society, Adi Bane Kebang, Itanagar Buddhist Cultural Society, Tagin Cultural Society etc. on Monday called on State Legislative Assembly Speaker T N Thongdok and requested him to call a Special Session of the Assembly to discuss ways and means to curb criminal activities in the state.
Apprising the Speaker about the spontaneous reaction of the people of the state right from Tawang to Longding after the supreme sacrifice made by DSP Bomto Kamdak, they urged the Speaker to call a Special Session of the Assembly to have a meaningful discussion to curb criminal activities.
The team also stressed the need for reformation and strengthening the police force so that the police force is encouraged to go after criminals. They also opposed granting bail to persons accused of heinous crimes, rapists; and also creation of a situation where law will have upper hand, which will ensure peace and accelerate the pace of our development.
Koyu HQs remains cut-off

PASIGHAT, Sep 5: The third wave of monsoon shower has caused extensive damage to roads, irrigation channel and standing crops in different blocks of East Siang district.
Landslides triggered by rains have occurred at 24 portions snapping road communication to remote Koyu circle. The landslides along Pasighat-Ledum-Tene- Koyu (PLTK) are yet to be cleared.
Koyu block Anchal Somity Member Pakyor Koyu along with Koyu EAC S Jamoh and engineers of PWD visited the affected areas and reported the situations to authorities concerned.
Report from Koyu said that PWD has pressed men and machinery to clear the road. However, it will take more two days to clear all the debris.
Road communication along Rotte-Koyu and Koyu-Kadu road also remained blocked due to landslides.
Food scarcity among school students, who are living in hostels, is looming large due to road blocks.
Food items and other essential commodities for the students and local villagers are transported along PLTK road, which is lifeline of the remote rural areas.
The PRI leaders of Koyu and Korang blocks have demanded the government to grant adequate fund under 'Flood Damage Relief' to the worst affected area. They also invited the Chief Minister to pay an official visit to the remote Koyu-Korang area and take measure for socio-economic development of the dejected people. Monsoon is still active in the region.
EAC and OC refute allegation of non-cooperation
ITANAGAR, Sep 5: The allegation of non-cooperation and showing leniency by police and civil administration in dealing with drug addict and drug peddlers does not hold any ground, said Chongkham EAC Oling Lego.
The EAC was reacting to the news item under the caption "Chongkham people demands transfer of EAC & OC within 48 hours” which was published in this daily on Sept 3 wherein the Chongkham Village Council (CVC) had alleged that Chongkham EAC and the Officer in-charge of Police Out Post Chongkham are not cooperating with the public in the crusade against drugs menace. The Council further alleged that one of the recently arrested persons with material evidences in connection with drug dealing was released on bail and said that the officer duo are not mentally compatible with the public in the fight against drug abuse.
Reacting to the allegation of showing leniency to a arrested person, the EAC clarified that on August 29, a bail petition was moved by a husband of a alleged woman accused of Chongkham-I village requesting for her release on bail for being a lactating mother and ill health of her youngest son.
Since police had requested for four days police remand of the alleged accused for completion of investigation of the case, the bail hearing was fixed on August 31, wherein the petitioner had also submitted material evidence of his son's illness along with one appeal letter signed by the three villagers of Chongkham-I with an appeal to release the alleged accused on bail on humanitarian ground considering her one-and-half-year-old son. Moreover, no narcotic drug or brown sugar has been recovered from her possession during the raid conducted by the police earlier as per the report of the I.O. of the case submitted before the court, the EAC said.
Considering all the facts, the alleged accused was granted bail as per the provision of law under CrPC by JMFC Chongkham and the ground of action taken had already been intimated to chief advisor CVC, Chongkham over telephone with the request to intimate all stakeholders of the case accordingly.
Giving details of the activities of the administration in curbing the drug menace and apprehending the drug peddlers along with Mahila Mandal and local people, the EAC further said that allegation of mentally incompatible with the public in fighting against drug ménage seems to be not plausible one since all other accused including women who were arrested under NPDS Act along with brown sugar are still under judicial remand.
In a separate clarification, Chongkham Police Outpost OC Inspector Thomas Pertin, while refuting the allegations said that in an effort to eradicate the drug menace from Chongkham circle, the police and civil administration along with public, Mahila Mandal and youth of Chongkham have conducted many joint raids against drug abuse and also arrested the accused. The Chongkham Police under my guidance are always cooperating with the people of Chongkham circle, the OC said adding the police personnel are committed to eradicate the menace of drug from the circle completely.
Call for effective implementation of NFSA
PASIGHAT, Sep 5: A preliminary meeting on the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in East Siang was convened by Deputy Commissioner, Isha Khosla at DC's conference hall on Monday with various stakeholders.
Speaking in the meeting, State Information Commissioner, Nanom Jamoh stated that the district should lead the way in the implementation the of NFSA, for providing access to food security and nutritional support to the people, particularly the target beneficiaries in the rural and urban areas. Informing that recently in June,
the State Cabinet has allocated the additional responsibility of the monitoring and review of the implementation of NFSA to the State Information Commission, Jamoh said that the Commission is committed to the success of the NFSA in the state.
Further, she asked concerned members of the stakeholders departments viz. DFCSO, DDSE, Dy.Director (ICDS) to provide all updated and comprehensive correct data in terms of benefits extended to the beneficiaries in their respective presentations on coverage of Mid Day Meal (MDM), functioning and non-functioning Fair Price Shops (FPS), Aadhar seeding and opening of A/C with Ration cards etc under Targeted Public Distribution System(TPDS), nutritional support to pregnant women/lactating mothers and children under ICDS and SNP in the proposed upcoming meeting scheduled in the last week of September next .
Booklets and pamphlets on NFSA in local dialect should also be provided to PRIs and GBs, she added. Jamoh is in charge of five districts -- East Siang, Siang, Upper Siang, Tirap and Longding districts.
DC Isha Khosla, in her address, has called for projection of requirements and datas by the stakeholders which would help in chalking out action plan. She said that the benefits as envisaged under NFSA should percolate down to the target people while also underscoring the need for proper monitoring by the administrative officers and elected leaders. The success of the NFSA depends on its proper implementation, she pointed out. She also directed the DFCSO and SDFCO to make available the information on allocation and sub-allocation of subsidized food grains in all Fair Price Shops(FPS) of the district.
ZPC Kaling Dai also called for creating awareness on need for Aadhar card to avail benefits of government schemes and the need for flexibility of guidelines on need based.

WASE refuses to budge

PASIGHAT, Sep 5: Women Against Social Evil (WASE) is adamant on its stand against open selling of 'Apong' in stalls during the Mega Solung Festival celebration from September 9 to 13 at Pasighat.
In a statement, WASE said that it was not against their own custom and tradition as being misled by some individuals with vested interest. We are only appealing for a restriction in open selling of wine in the festival stalls and to the minors. "We (WASE) do not have the authority to ban Apong. The State Government and the administration are the authorities to ban it or not," it said.
The Central Solung Festival Celebration Committee (CSFCC) held a meeting on August 29 at Engo Takar Dere to discuss the issue following an appeal from WASE. All the representatives of Adi Bane Kebang (ABK), BBK, BBYK, PRI members and Donyi Polo Yelam Kebang (DPYK) and GBs, who attended the meeting, appealed WASE to allow selling of local Apong in the stalls during the Mega Solung celebration to maintain the spirit of the festival. They were also of the opinion that local Apong should be promoted amongst the tourists for future marketing.
Moreover police personnel and volunteers will be there to look after the stalls, told the CSFCC.
Earlier on August 26, a meeting was held at Pasighat Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall, wherein it was decided to hold one more meeting between the Mega Solung Festival Celebration Committee and the WASE team to resolve the issue amicably. But till date, there has been no any decision from the administration on the issue.
DC puts emphasis on punctuality for effective service delivery
AALO, Sep 5: A series of meetings were held separately with administrative officers, Police, HoDs and branch officers of DC office on different issues and problems by West Siang DC Gamli Padu. Earlier, he joined as the West Siang Deputy Commissioner on Monday.
Addressing the officers at DC's chamber, DC Padu sought cooperation from all departments for overall development of the district. He stressed on commitment, sincerity and punctuality right from the top to down the line to improve service delivery system.
Further, the DC asked the concerned departments to stay focused on large scale damages caused by monsoon to surface communication, WRC fields, horticulture gardens, water supply, electric poles and infrastructures at Dari, Padi, Dali and other places. He insisted that departments should put all efforts with men and materials to restore the crisis faced by the people.
The Trans Arunachal Highway works, lifting of heavy luggage by passenger vehicles, timely issue of ST/ PRC certificates through Jan Suvidha etc. were elaborately discussed.
The DC also convened a meeting with BRTF, T.K. Engineering, J.K.M, NHIDCL, DLRSO, AE Highway to discuss ways and means to clear all block points at Likabali-Aalo road. DIPRO
State of art horticulture farm
Success takes time; but if there is strong willpower and determination towards the goal then nothing can stop. This has been proven by the Horticulturist N. Lobsang in Shergaon Horticulture farm.
This story of bold initiatives yielding literally sweet fruits and net positive yield is one that should be an example for all to follow.
There used to be lot of pilferage. Low yield was the norm for the Shergaon farm. But, with the initiatives started by the Horticulturist many wrongs have been set right.
The system of grading, packing and electronic weighing of Apple in the field has been introduced replacing weighing- balance with big wooden boards to ensure correct weighing of farm produce, mainly apple for the benefit of consumers as well as to prevent loss of revenue.
The system of packing apple in egg cartons was introduced along with the system of delivering harvested and graded fruits in egg cartons from the field to the store with delivery challan further plugging pilferage and ensuring accountability.
The selling price of Apple per kilogram in 2011 was Rs 35 (Grade-I) and Rs 10 (Grade-IV), which has been revised twice by the Board increasing the price to Rs 100 (Special Grade), Rs 80 (Grade -1), Rs 60 (Grade-2), Rs 40 (Grade-3) and Rs 30 (Grade-4) per Kg.
There was a huge price gap between market price, farmers selling price and government farm rate leading to loss revenue. It also caused great problem to the Apple farmers in marketing their produce.
Since 2011-12, the prices of fruits and other produce of SHF, Shergaon have been revised at the interval of 2-3 years to enable the apple growers to fetch better earning and encourage the Apple growers.
The nursery has also been overhauled. Different plots have been developed for different rootstock types to prevent mixing even by mistake.
Barren fields have been developed to use it as 'mother block' for multiplication of M-9 apple dwarfing rootstock and preparation of grafted apple plants that bears fruit in 3 years as compared to conventional ones which take 5 to 6 years to bear fruit.
Collection of clonal rootstocks for apple, like Dwarf: M-9 Semi Dwarf: M-7 and MM-106,Vigorous : MM-111, and Merton -793, developing mother block for Apple and Walnut with Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, grafted walnut plants and apple and rootstocks from Kashmir etc. are some of the initiatives.
Grafting of walnut plants was started in 2014. Grafted Walnut plants come to full bearing stage in 5 years.
Though it failed initially, the farm has been successful in raising seedlings of Sweet Chestnuts from 2014.
Local peach seedlings and grafting of Plum and Improved varieties of Peach have been started from 2014.
It also started raising local persimmon seedlings to use it as rootstock to graft improved non astringent cultivars of Persimmon. Also started in the farm was a plant propagule multiplication nursery for medicinal plant Paris polyphylla, which is fast declining from the forest area due to destructive harvesting and excessive collection from wild.
Fernandez assures protection and assistance to NE students in Delhi
NEW DELHI, Sep 5: Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Oscar Fernandez has assured to protect and provide all possible means of assistance, guidance and safety for students of Northeast in New Delhi.
He was interacting with the students of Arunachal Pradesh in an interactive programme for students from Arunachal studying in New Delhi with the members of All India Congress Committee and National Students Union of India on Monday at Arunachal house, New Delhi.
Earlier, the students' leaders from various communities of Arunachal Pradesh raised various issues and expressed their strong voice against increase in racial discrimination, rent problems, security and safety of tribal students in Delhi. The students proposed for enacting Racial Discrimination Acts, Rent Control Acts, and Hostel facilities for North East students and to do away with Hindi as a compulsory subject in Delhi University.
Secretary AICC in-charge NSUI, Girish Choudankar also assured to reserve an NSUI ticket to a student from Northeast for next Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) election. This would let the whole nation know about the talents and efficiency of people from northeast, he added.
AICC member and former MP, Takam Sanjoy and NSUI, State- General Secretary, Wangpho Arangham also spoke during the function.
In the programme convened by NSUI state unit Arunachal Pradesh, scores of students turned up and expressed their personal views and opinion for the interests and welfare of students' community in Delhi.
Pangkeng Youth FC lifts Siyom Banggo Football Trophy
ITANAGAR, Sep 05: Pangkeng Youth FC (PYFC) lifted the 2nd Siyom Banggo Football Championship Running Trophy defeating Jomo FC 3 -1 in the final match played at General Ground Pessing on September 3.
Former minister Dibang Tatak attended the closing ceremony and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners up teams.
The winner was awarded cash prize of Rs. 50,000 along with a trophy, medals and certificates while the runners up team was given Rs. 30,000 with a trophy.
The other prizes were given away by Chairman of Koze Zanggo Society Otam Takoh.
Govt. Higher Secondary School, Pessing team has been adjudged the best disciplined team and awarded of Rs. 10,000 and trophy.
Tapon Tatin of PYFC and Tangiat Tali of Jomo FC were adjudged the 'Best Goalkeeper' and 'Best Player' of the tournament respectively.
Earlier, Tatak spoke about importance of games and sports in our daily life, physical activities to stay physically fit, healthy and mentally sound.
Principal of GHSS Pessing Tahak Tamut and Secretary Koze Zanggo Society Olom Talom also spoke about the benefits of playing sports and the importance of organizing such sports activities in the area.
Eighteen teams from Siang and two teams from West Siang district participated in the month-long tournament, the prizes of which were sponsored by Koze Zanggo Society.
Organized by SBFCRT with support of Solung Festival Celebration Committee, Pessing, the tournament was kicked off by Siang Deputy Commissioner Rahul Singh on August 3.
CCFC storms into Mega Solung Football semis
PASIGHAT, Sep 05: Dunda Pui scored hat-trick as Capital Complex Football Club pounded Siang Rovers FC 6-0 in the fourth quarterfinal match and stormed into the semifinals of the Mega Solung Football Tournament, 2016 at JN College Playground here on Monday.
Porlat Bora and Gyamar Kuku scored one goal each while an own goal compounded the misery of the Siang Rovers FC.
Gakir Dulom of Capital Complex was adjudged as "Man of the Match" by match commissioner Nada Apa, District Sports Officer, East Siang.
CCFC will play against Psighat Sporting Club on September eight in the second semifinal.
The first semifinal match will be held between Mongku FC and Bogong Soccer Club (BSC) on September 7 from 2 pm in the same playground.
Taloh emphasises on quality education for competition
AALO, Sept 05: Calling on the students and parents to give emphasis on quality education to compete with the fast developing trends of the present day, Minister Industries, Textile & Handicrafts, Tapang Taloh assured the people of the Nugong Banngo to extend all possible help to improve the educational scenario of the Banggo in particular.
Taloh was speaking at the felicitation programme conducted by Nugong Baane Kebang (NBK) coinciding with the Solung festival at Pangin on Sep 3.
Later, Minister Taloh gave away the certificates and mementos to 17 meritorious students of the NBK in the function which was attended by the students, parents and local public of the area.
Siang ADC, Tamik Talom advised the students to maintain discipline and concentrate in studies than to waste youthful energies fruitless things.

Mangha reinstated
ITANAGAR, Sep 5: The state government has reinstated Bamang Mangha as the Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology, an autonomous organization of the state government. The state government has asked him to continue in the office till further order, stated an official release.
IFCSAP team visits Lazu circle
ITANAGAR, Sep 5: A team of central executive memebers of Indigenous Faith & Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) led by its president Dr. Ligu Tacho toured Lazu circle of Tirap district under its routine visit to indigenous prayer centres.
The IFCSAP team visited Pongkong, Barap and Raho villages prayer centres, where Dr. Tacho advised the people to follow their own aged-old indigenous faith (Rangfraism). He suggested the villagers not to distract by false promises.
The IFCSAP team had meeting with the members of Tirap Indigenous People's Society (TIPS), which has been playing a crucial role in process of spreading the message of indigenous faith movement in Tirap district.
Dr. Tacho inaugurated an indigenous prayer centre (Yangshom-Hum) at Raho village under Lazu circle on September 4.
Power restored
ITANAGAR, Sep 5: After reeling in darkness for two years, power has been finally restored in Neokhilanghi village under Phassang circle of Kurung Kumey district, informed village development Committee chairman Ringu Taping in a release.
One of the remotest villages, continuous rain had damaged the HT line following disruption in the power supply.
Training programme on Geo-MGNREGA
ITANAGAR, Sep 5: A one-day training programme on Geo-MGNREGA-a flagship programme of Ministry of Rural Development was conducted for three districts, namely West Kameng, East Kameng, and Tawang in the conference hall of West Kameng Deputy Commissioner on Monday.
The training was chaired by Commissioner (RD & PR) Indra Mallo and attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sonal Swaroop and numbers of participants including Project Directors, Block, Development Officers, District Nodal officers, E.O. (R.E.) of all blocks and Field functionaries from the three districts.
Ambulances flagged off

JAIRAMPUR, Sep 5: Two new ambulances for PHC Nampong and CHC Manmao were flagged off today by Nampong MLA Laisam Simai on Monday at Jairampur.
Simai said that the new ambulances will definitely make the medical service easily accessible to the needy people of the region. Though the ambulance will be run through self help basis initially, Simai assured to chalk out a policy soon so that poor villagers do not have to shoulder the burden of procuring fuel when ambulance service is needed. He also appealed that the ambulance service should be extended to every interior village that are connected by road as well as emphasised on protecting the asset with proper maintenance.
The ambulances have been procured under BADP 2014-15 funds to cater to the needs of the people in the interior villages of the region.

Kabak contributes bike to police outpost
ITANAGAR, Sep 05: In a noble gesture to boost the morale of police personnel of Liromoba Police Out Post, MLA Nyamar Karbak on Monday donated a bike to Liormoba Police Out post for convenient patrolling and maintenance of law and order.
It was handed over to Officer Incharge (OC) Kenter Tacha in a small function held at MLA's residence. Appraising OC to be pro-active in vigilance and maintaining law and order problem in the constituency, Karbak assured to upgrade outpost into Independent Police Station by next financial year, and informed that the process for the same has already been initiated. The MLA also assured to provide funds for parking shed at Police Station and advised the OC to use the bike for public service and make sure that the area is free from any kind of law & order problems.
Among others present on the occasion were Zirgi Kadu, state organizer Seva Dal, Binpak Romin, State Secretary APYC, Dr Jarkar Kayi and Dr Mepe Pale.
Newly built VIP suites inaugurated
CHANGLANG, Sep 5: Two newly built rooms as VIP suites at Changlang were inaugurated by Changlang (North) MLA, Tesam Pongte on Monday.
Appreciating EE PWD, Khoda Gyati and his team for timely completion of projects, Pongte said that this will add to VIP accommodation which was lacking in the town. Constructed by PWD, the rooms were built under DoTCL fund.
Merge all isolated engineering wings headed by a CE: AAPUEA
ITANAGAR, Sept 5: The All Arunachal Pradesh Unemployed Engineers' Association (AAPUEA) has appealed for merging all isolated engineering wings together headed by a chief engineer instead of winding them up.
In its representation to the chief minister, it said that the cabinet decision to wind-up the isolated wings of non-works department is affecting many engineers referring to their state as sudden death of their career progression.
'By doing this, we can restore the career of all staffs consisting of 912 odd technical and non-technical officials/officers who are being rendered jobless', the union suggested.

A clarion call to unite against terrorism
Reiterating that India has a policy of zero tolerance to terrorism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a clarion call to international community to fight terrorism in South Asia during the concluding session of G20 Summit. In an apparent reference to Pakistan, Modi said "one single nation in South Asia is spreading "agents of terror". "Growing forces of violence and terror pose a fundamental challenge. There are some nations that use it as an instrument of state policy. India has a policy of zero tolerance to terrorism. Because anything less than that is not enough," Modi said. He called upon the international community to raise voice and act in unison to fight against the menace. Modi, however, appreciated the G20's initiative on combating the financing of terrorism and emphasized that all countries should meet the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards.
It is fact that India has been fighting terrorism for long in the South Asian region as the country realize that the global peace and development would not be possible unless the terrorism is rooted out. The peace loving countries and G20 member states must come forward with effective mechanism and extend support in India's fight against the menace.

College education in Arunachal
Dear Editor,
The students of Arunachal Pradesh are not mentally inferior to those of other states. There are so many students in our state who can compete in any national level exam, if there are adequate infrastructure and teaching staffs. But almost all the colleges and even lone state university at Pasighat do not have adequate infrastructure and teaching faculties.
Even after introduction of semester system in undergraduate programs in the degree colleges why there is delay in the recruitment of regular teachers. Here it is worth questioning that why there is indefinite delay in infrastructure development and recruitment of lecturers in various degree colleges though it is funded through RUSA. It is also worth mentioning that every education minister had made promises in the past that the education system in Arunachal will be improved but there is very little improvement.
Hence, I sanguinely would like to appeal the Department of Education and Education Minister to look into these seriously and try their best to improve the education system of the state. Let necessary infrastructure be built and adequate number of lecturers be appointed in all the colleges of Arunachal as per the teacher student ratio norm laid down by the UGC and RUSA without any further delay to meet the problem faced by student and teachers due to increased workload after the introduction of semester system in the degree colleges, so that the dismal and disastrous semester results of the past may not repeat.

Govt employees targeted
Dear Editor,
I would like to express my solidarity and support to the issues raised by COSSAP demanding immediate withdrawal of Govt Order mandating all Govt Servants to obtain NOC from Deputy Commissioner, Vigilance Dept. UD and Estate Officer for availing promotion and retirement benefits.
While it is well known to all that the problem of encroachment of Govt land and properties mainly started with political class including Honble Ministers, MLAs, Business Tycoons and many Top ranked panchyat leaders, it is therefore, absolutely unfair and biased on the part of the Govt. to target only the Govt. employees.
Since law is equal for all, it is therefore imperative that our legislators bring legislation or a policy decision for procurement of NOC before contesting Assembly, Parliament, Panchyat and Municipality Elections. Also Govt. should seriously think of including the business class as they too avail certain benefits from Public exchequer during the course of business transaction including income tax exemptions etc. The provision for NOC from Govt. Dept before registration as Govt. Contractor or obtainment of Trading License etc should also be extended to powerful NGOs and student organizations who are no less than the political class in matters of encroachment of Govt. land and banishment of Govt. properties.
While the former Chief Minister Nabum Tuki did realize the cancerous germ of encroachment, and also found a win win solution applicable to all stake holders, the Cabinet decision could not be notified due to change in guard.
Needless to conclude that the ball is now in the court of CM Pema Khandu who holds the portfolios of land Management, Vigilance, Administrative Reforms, Personnel to give a logical conclusion to the long pending problems and address the genuine grievances aired by its employees.
Hope Pema being young, energetic and carrying the legacy of his visionary father Lt. CM Dorjee Khandu, will not wait for the employees to launch an indefinite Pen and Tools Down Strike against its Masters and thereby causing untold inconveniences to Public and huge loss to State exchequer.

Human callousness
Dear Editor,
Pope Francis has denounced indifference to hunger, exploitation and other sufferings as "a grave sin, modern sin and a sin of today" before Mother Teresa canonisation. While there is no doubt about this is a grave sin, such indifference cannot be viewed as something new. In fact, Tagore criticized our indifference to human sufferings in his song, "Oh, what a spring!" ("aaha, aaji e basante") indeed, in the nineteenth century.
Tagore wrote, "Let those who are enjoying, enjoy themselves / Let them enjoy the enjoyable spring to its last ~ / Those happy guys must not see/ The teardrop of a poor girl. / They pretend not to see, / They pretend not to understand, / They turn their heads. /".
Then, Bob Dylan did a Tagore by exposing our hypocrisy and callous indifference to human sufferings in his famous song, "Blowin' in the wind" in the twentieth century. The song said, "Yes, how many times can a man turn his head / Pretending he just doesn't see? / The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind / The answer is blowin' in the wind".
So, we see that this human callousness is not a modern phenomenon but our chronic disease for centuries.
